This small semicircular box is a creation of the talented Palekh artist Anna Kamanina. Anna is a Member of the Artist's Union since 1989. Her works are exhibited in the State Museum of Palekh Art, the All Russia Museum of Decorative and Applied Art and in the Ivanovo Region Art Museum.
The Russian proverb has been chosen by the artist as a theme for this work. This proverb can be translated into English as ‘When the whole family is at home everyone is happy'.
The scene is nicely painted with a keen eye for detail. Each element of the composition is richly detailed with bright gold paint that shine against the black background.
The scene is framed with gold beads. The box's sides are decorated with a nice gold pattern accompanied with gold beads.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the name of the artist, the year of 2006, the title and the village of Palekh.
