Description:

This interesting semi-antique Palekh box was painted by artist Bureeva. This splendid piece shows a fragment from the fairy-tale "The Mistress of the Copper Mountain" written by Pavel Bazhov. Here we can see Katyusha and Danilo the Master in front of the Mistress. We can see a stone flower on the back side.
Gold beads decorate the edges of the lid. The sides of the box are adorned with beautiful gold floral ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged at the top of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs. It is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Palekh, and a year.
