This beautiful semi-antique box was painted by talented Palekh artist Polyakova Vera Ivanovna. Palyakova was born in 1933 in Smolensk region, she has been studied in Palekh Art School (1952-1957).
The composition shows a scene from a Tale of Frog Princess- the Feast when the Frog turned to a beautiful lady and made the best food and entertain the guests with a nice dance.
Nice gold ornament framed the compoosition. The sides of the box are adorned with beautiful gold floral ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged at the top of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs. It is signed with the name of the artist, the village of Palekh, and a year.
The box is in a good shape for this year!
