Established Palekh Master Zhiryakov Alexey is the author of this splendid box.
In the middle of the composition the artist has painted Yelena the Wise who is a main character of the fairy-tale Yelena the Wise. Yelena the Wise is drawn here sitting on her throne, and leaning her elbows on the magic book. Around her various people of her kingdom were gathered to listen to her. Dragon painted in gold is hiding behind Elena's throne.
The composition is showing the whole story, and it goes around the center, where Elena is located.
The sides of the box are painted with pages of the magic Elena's book.
The drawing is full of rich details. The artist pays great attention to the expressive faces of all characters, and to their costumes, drawing countless folds and ornaments. Brilliant gold and silver paints are applied with a very thin brush to enhance various details.
The ornamentation of the box is astonishing. The box's sides are decorated with rich and very intricate gold floral patterns.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Red lacquer covers the interior of the box and black lacquer is used to paint the exterior. The box has a hinge from the left of the composition and rests on a wavy platform. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2016, the title -Yelena the Wise, and the village of Palekh.
