Talented Kholui Artist, Aleona Guryleova, has painted this composition with a Forest Man depicted from the Russian fairy-tales.
The work is called "On the light". According to folk believes, the Forest Man is a Spirit who keeps the forest and can understand the language of animals and protect all alive being from evil.
Here we can see that a Forester sit in the forest under the tree with a busket full of red berries and trying to light a fire. There is some smoke coming up from the earth in front of Forest Man. To the left we can see a hog, an Owl is sit on a tree and capercaillie is sit on another tree behind him. Cancer can be seen in the left lower corner in the water. The figure of Baba Yaga can be found against the background of the moon, flying in a mortar and with a broom. She might come on the light to Forest man.
The painting is framed with a silver ornament. The sides of the box are decorated with silver pattern.
The box's exterior is covered with a black color lacquer and it's interior is traditionally red.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a wavy platform with eight legs. Signed with the name of the artist, the title and the village of Kholui.
