This hemisphere shaped box was painted by a talented Kholui artist Olga Kosterina.
Here we can see Santa or Father Frost bringing Christmas or New Year's gifts. Children went outdoor and staying around Santa. One guy is sit on a stump and play the accordion.
Blue, green and red tones are dominated on this scene. Gold paints are used to detail the costume of Father Frost.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Intricate gold pattern decorates the edges of hemisphere. The interior of the box is red, while the exterior bottom are covered with back lacquer. The lid is hinged, and the box rests flat, but has cotton legs, which are made which are made to avoid scratches on the lacquer surface of the base. They are easy to take off.
The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Kholui and the title ("Winter Holiday").
