This unusual Kholui box has been created by Anatoliy Zhukov.
It features a view of Moscow kkremlin during the night and called "Stars over Moscow". In the center of the composition we can see Pokrovskiy Cathedral. Around this cathedral all Kremlin Churches are painted.
Beautiful gold ornamentation frames the scene, and decorates the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top, and the box rests flat. The artist has signed his name, the title and the village name of Kholuy along the bottom of the composition in gold paint.
