This real life composition has been painted by a family tandem of the Terentievs, Sergey and Olga.
It shows winter outdoor fun in countryside. Children are sledging down the hill and skating on the ice of a frozen river. On the right side we can see a couple sledging down the hill,to the left- a lad is helping his girl friend to put on the skates, and in the middle of the scene a couple is enjoy the skating! On the background we can see snow covered wooden houses of a village.
With this composition they continue the series of the works related with village outdoor activity possibly have taken place in Palekh.
The drawing is colorful and filled with intricate details. Bright red, orange, yellow, and blue color patches seem to be brighter against the black background. The details are added with gold and silver paints.
The box is constructed from paper-mache.
Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior.
The comosition is framed with thick golden dots on the edges of the lid. The sides of the box are decorated with very intricate pattern of gold and silver paint.
The box has a hinge above the composition and rests flat.
The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Palekh.
