This interesting subject was painted by talented Fedoskino artist Dmitriy Ivanov.Originally this composition was painted by a well known Russian artist Nevrev Nikolay Vasilievich (1830-1904) and called "Looking at a bride"(1888) and kept in the State Tretiakov Gallery.
It shows a time when a young man is showing his intention to marry a young lady and come to her parents for familiarity and ask for a hand of a girl.
Fine brush strokes creates multi-toned face of a girl, the texture of her cream costume, patterns and folds on it. With the help of artistic means the artist managed to accentuate charm of the girl.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The box's exterior is decorated with intricate gold ornamentation. A hinge has been fastened along the top of the composition and the box rests on the four round legs. The work is signed by the author and Fedoskino.
