This oval box is a creation of one of the talented Fedoskino artists Alexander Chirkov. Here we can see three hares near the old stump, while in the background the picturesque winter forset is depicted.
The landscape painted in the background is drawn in subdued blue and silver/grey tones. A piece of mother-of-pearl is shines between the winter tree and imitates the cold sunset. Five birds are painted over this small glade in gold. Another large piece of mother-of-pearl is shimmers through the trunk of the tree on the left.
The scene is framed with gold dots on the edge of the lid and lid itself and they are continued on the base of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer was used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes its interior. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the year of 2016 and the title ("Winter fairy-tale").
