Davydova from the village of Fedoskino has created a series of boxes that show butterflies hovering over flowers. This set of a large box and FIVE smaller ones inside of it is also painted on this theme.
The box's lid and four smaller boxes inside the large one has covered with the painting of dark butterflies hovering over red poppy flowers. Gold metal leaf shines brilliantly through the wings of each butterfly.
The box's exterior and interior are covered with black lacquer. The sides of the large box are richly decorated with a nice tartan pattern drawn in gold paints and color paints.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and Fedoskino.
The size of a smaller boxes are 14.5x11.5x4 cm,
or 5.25x4.5x1.5 inches.
