Well-known talented Fedoskino artist Irina Turbeneova has painted this beautiful five-sided casket. Irina often created one-of-a-kind compositions, so called "originals" and this casket is just one of these samples. And this is not the first her casket on this theme, BUT they all are different!
The subject is based on Lewis Carroll's classic tale "Alice in Wonderland". Here, on this casket, we can see all major characters of the Tale: Alice, White Rabbit at the 5 o'clock Tea ceremony, lot's of insects, animals and , of course, Cheshire's Cat.
The artist has used a pallette of the pastel, bright tones of oils, which is a recognizable feature of her style.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior's bottom of the casket while red lacquer completes it's the interior.
The casket is hinged and rests on the four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and Fedoskino at the bottom of the painting of the back side of the casket.
