The talented Kholui artist Larisa Poturayko created this splendid box featuring an episode from the fairy-tale "Red Hat". Red Hat is a little girl who goes to her grandmother to bring her pies. The Wolf intends to eat the girl, and to achieve this aim he puts on the woman's clothes and pretends to be the grandmother. In the end the girl and her grandmother are saved by hunters.
The palette of the composition reflects the summer season depicted here. Gold paints are used to add different details.
The scene is framed with the elegant gold pattern. The sides of the box are decorated with intricate gold and aluminum ornamentation highlighted with pink and green tempera paints.
The box is constructed out of papier-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge affixed from the top of the composition, and rests on four legs. This original author's work is signed and titled by the artist.
