Description:

This five-sided box has been drawn by the established Kholuy artist Vladimir Kiselev. His style is very easy to recognize and his completed miniatures are always a treasure to behold.
The box shows beautiful views of the Moscow Kremlin that is Russia's stronghold and spiritual hub. On the box's lid the artist has drawn the St.-Basil's Cathedral and the white-stoned cathedrals of the Moscow Kremlin. On the box's sides we can see a panorama of the Moscow Kremlin encircled with the red bricked wall, and the Red Square where some world famous buildings are situated, such as the Mausoleum of Lenin (the right side) and the State Historical Museum (the rear side).
Cold blues predominate here as the action takes place in winter. Gold paint is used all throughout the scenes. The edges of the lid, and the edges of the box's bottom part are adorned with gold and silver snowflakes.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title, Kholui, the year of 2006 and the fact that this box is an artistic original.
