This elegant box painted by Kholui artist, Viktor Kharchev, shows some beautiful views of St.-Petersburg. On the box's lid he depicts the statue of Peter the Great; on the box's front side we can see the Savior on the Blood Cathedral while on its rear side the Admiralty is painted. Brown, green, and blue tones of tempera paints predominate here. Various details are enhanced with brilliant gold paint.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The exterior is decorated with beautiful gold ornaments. The lid isn't hinged. The work is signed with the name of the artist, Kholui, and title (“St.-Petersburg”).
