It is amazing how so much elegance can be found upon the surface of something so small. A tribute to the work of Mstera artist N. Yeliseeva. A delicate find that is a pleasure to behold.
This piece reflects the composition of Mstera masters such as Yurin and relies heavily upon the central component of a highly conventionalized still-nature. The main decorative function is performed by the pattern. The artist also uses beautiful rhythmic placement of colorful flowers in the center of the composition. The main composition is set against a matte grey background. The lively and radiant flowers embellished in gold paint shoot out light and sparkle from within as they lay on the paper-mache canvas.
To decorate the box Yeliseeva paints gold floral filigree on the lid's edges and the box's sides adding to the overall beauty and radiance of the piece.
The box is constructed from paper-mache made in the village of Mstera. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged and the box rests on a flat bottom. On the bottom of the box the artist paints in gold the title of the piece, "Spring Fantasy", the village of Mstera, and her original signature.
